All you need to know about the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Draw

Lebanon, who received a bye into the second round of the Asian Qualifiers, will start their campaign on September 5.

The draw for the second round will be made on July 17 at 11am (Beirut Time) at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

According to the-afc.com :

⁃ The 40 nations will be drawn into eight groups of five teams and compete in a double round robin format, with matches to be held from September 5, 2019 to June 9, 2020. Following the June 14, 2019 FIFA World Ranking.

⁃ The group winners and four best runners-up (total 12 teams) will advance to the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 finals and the final round of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

⁃ The next best 24 teams from the preliminary stage of the joint qualifiers will compete in a separate competition for the remaining slots in the 24-team AFC Asian Cup China 2023.

Based on Lebanon’s record:

⁃ Best Draw : Saudi Arabia, Korea DPR, Maldives, Cambodia (11 games won, 4 games drawn, 6 games lost).

⁃ Worst Draw : Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Singapore (11 games won, 20 games drawn, 34 games lost).

⁃ No Experience: Japan, Chinese Taipei, Myanmar, Nepal (3 games in total).

⁃ Most Experience: Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Singapore (65 games in total).

Please note that if Lebanon are drawn with Palestine, the two games might be played on neutral ground.
